Does Anyone Else Watch Jon & Kate Plus Eight?

This is the new show that I’m a little bit obsessed with, and I desperately need someone to talk to about it and none of my real-life friends watch it. So I’m gonna try with you guys.
It’s a reality show on TLC, on Monday nights, but reruns show up all the time.
Here’s the basics: Jon & Kate got married. Jon & Kate had twin girls, Cara and Madelyn. And then they decided to try for just one more, and ended up with sextuplets, three girls and three boys. So now Jon & Kate have eight children. The twin girls are seven years old and the babies are 3 1/2. And the show is about their life.
At first I started watching it because I was like “Awww, babies! Babies are cute!” And the babies are cute, and it’s fascinating to watch how intelligent and aware and communicative children are at just 3 years old, but what got me hooked is the relationship between Kate and Jon.
I mean, is it just me, or does Jon absolutely hate Kate? I mean, Kate, while doing her very best to be a good mother, is totally neurotic and overbearing and controlling and just plain old mean to Jon. She corrects his grammar constantly, tells him how stupid and inconsiderate he is, and at one point even yells at him for breathing too loud. And Jon kind of takes it in stride because he loves his kids, but I think somewhere deep down he really just wants to murder Kate and dump her body in a river, and frankly I don’t blame him. But it’s hilarious to watch.
Is anyone else picking this up, or is this just how all married couples with children interact? If so, maybe marriage and children are overrated …

Well, Tricky, you came in at a pretty interesting place … We discussed J&K, then no one wanted to discuss them anymore so we moved to the “grammer (sic) police” — lots of discussion there for obvious reasons!
Then I posted the FAIRTAX.ORG site so that people would REALIZE how badly we are getting screwed by our government & the Nancy Pelosi & “Bawny Fwank” gang (see my post above re. “Windfall Retirement Tax”). Don’t forget, Nancy just couldn’t HAVE the small jet, she had to have the BIG JET to tour Italy with all her friends and to go to California every weekend!

I agree,,, If they don’t shake things up I predict that this will be the last season. If having Jon do all of this running around while Kate is gone is an attempt to get attention its the wrong kind! If he is just friends with all of these women he knows, why doesn’t he just invite them over their new estate? I know if I had a new “crib” as he called it, I would be enviting my friends over to hang out there! I submitted a request to TLC to have Kate be on “Wife Swap” or to have “Super Nanny” come to their house but they just blew me off….. Oh well, it looks like the Cash Cow is drying up….
Maxine just called on her way to work. She said that she just heard on the radio that last night they upgraded the Swine Flu epidemic to a level 6. That’s as high as it goes, so everyone be careful and stay away from crowds. They said if you get sick, to stay away from the Emergency Rooms… If you don’t have it you probably will after visiting the E.R…… The little girl that died wasn’t too far away from us… They said on the radio to be sure to eat lots of garlic and onions…. I recommend purchasing plenty of tooth paste!

Missy, The NE is a very reputable source of information. I totally believe that there was a woman who had bigfoots baby. I also believe that Elvis was abducted by aliens and is now living on Mars… That is a joke, by the way… The information I read, I think was thru the USweekly…. It said that is who the guy sold the picture to… It is supposed to be out in their next issue… Im just interested in seeing it…. I probably wont buy it.. J&K on the news again tonight, HLN news, also a reporter from US Weekly said you should never believe every thing you see/read in the tabloids, they also said they believe J&K went into this blindsided and did not know what they were getting into when they signed the contract, unlike others such as Hulk Hogan, and those who were stars before their reality show, And of course there were some saying Kates hair is bad, geez ppl what about the hair makes ppl so crazy? Also said TLC is loving what the gossip is doing to the ratings, so I don’t think J&K are leaving any time soon.

Kate was on Larry King last nite - what she didn’t say tells it all - she said they both love the kids to death - but no word that they love each other. She is “handling” the situation - I would think they both would appear to stop the rumors. Don’t know where Jon boy was. But to me it appears the game is over - enjoy while you can Kate - the cash cow is drying up!!!

I will no longer watch this show. In the beginning it had a cute innocence about it. As time went by it seemed that Kate became more demanding and seemed to act more like a celebrity. Jon gets run over by his over controlling wife. The most recent tabloid news regarding cheating blah blah blah and the spread in People Magazine has just plain turned me off. They had a good run time for something new, but nothing is new anymore except all the potential cheating and what not. This show now feels scripted and unrealistic. Hey Kate, your not a celebrity…your just a wicked b@tch….BORED TO TEARS WITH THIS! Gosselins are gone from my home….NEXT!!!…………..

I have been watching Jon & Kate + 8 since it first came on, and loved (yes, past tense) it. I was truly amazed at what these young folks did, and had to do every day. It’s a monumental task to raise ONE child at a time, much less 6 of the same age.
That being said, I have to agree with earlier commens about Kate and her over-all attitude, etc. What goes on off-screen is one thing, but when it is on-screen, it’s an entirely different one. Kate always seemed to be overbearing, know-it-all, very condescending to Jon most of the time, treating him, and talking to him, as if he didn’t have the sense God gave a goose. I marvel at the man’s patience, and total way of handling it. I don’ tnow that I ever remember seeing him “buck up to her”, defend himself,etc. That did a lot to keep him looking like the good guy, and her the not-so-good guy. Every time she said jump he would ask ‘how high’, and go on his way doing whatever she commanded him to do. The episodes that has a lot of this going on in them, were painful to watch at times.
Did all this give Jon reason to “go elsewhere” (if he did)? Not really, because that’s wrong, but it’s almost understandable. I think deep-down Kate has some good qualities, but the one thing she needs to do is LIGHTEN UP! Yes, I fully realize that with such a large family of children so close together in age, there is a need for some sort of organization, but, give it a rest. I also watch other shows where there are large numbers of children (many more than the Goesslins have, and they are not nearly so regimented, and the children seem to be very happy, they “line up” so to speak, when it is needed, discipline is definitely part of their every day lives, but it’s not so much like a military boot camp. Some days, everyone just needs to be able to let their hair down.
I truly would like to see this family be able to find a way to stay together, and be a happy family. The children are the ones who will suffer the most from all this.

(that ought to set off a firestorm :)…they are just people…that last episode was sad though…sheesh…and my wife Jeannie and I do have opinions…she is a teacher and I am a therapist so we think we know it all( and have a sense of humor)…no really, it’s just the human condition…Kate is a control freak, no doubt about it…but Jon is now such a whining baby….”I might as well be in prison.” oh brother…what a spoiled brat…evidently he has never talked to anybody who has been in prison…he has totally lost perspective…but ya know what?…they have adorable kids…they love them…they did love each other but somehow they have lost their way….who knows? they could find each other again….no way has Kate had an affair though…she couldn’t …too spontaneous…Jon? if he was drunk enough…yea, but it could give him the perspective that the grass is not greener on the other side…losing your kids for somebody you find in a bar who will have sex with you knowing you are married is a bad trade off…you will never trust that person …never…Kate will begin to look like someone he can depend on…because she is that person…just VERY high maintenance…but he does need to stand up to her….it was so sad when she would rip him apart on camera and he would just look into the camera and say,” I don’t know what to say.” when we saw that we knew there would be damage…not easy being on a TV show …it wouldn’t be for any of us….and you great political analyst are ah…full of it…LOL
