Fun with YouTube: Robyn, “Handle Me”

May 2nd, 2008 by Evil Beet

So I’ve been hearing about this Robyn chick FOREVER now, and finally a couple days ago I was like, “Okay, fuck it, let’s hear this damn album.”

I brought it up on Rhapsody and have been listening to it for a couple days now. At first I was like, “This isn’t bad, but I don’t really see what the big fuss is about.” But I’ve listened to the album all the way through five or six times now, and I’m starting to get it. It’s a pretty dope album.

Above find the video for my fave song on it, “Handle Me.”

okay, i’m glad i heard this song for the first time with the video. it’s insane and awesommmme. i even love that horrible haircut. i’m heading off to soulseek now to download it

….but WHO does she remind me of??? her face is so familiar to me, like a cross between chris corner, jared leto, and macaulay culkin.

No, no, no! Now don’t get me wrong, I dig her lyrics and sound but that video was wierd. Kinda cool and different in an “I’m a wierdo and what?!” kind of a way. Anywho, I know why the Beet loves her, she looks like Chris Crocker!

I haven’t heard the disc. Have to check it out. I was curious about whether this is the same Robyn who made a little splash worldwide, and stateside, in the nineties with the disc ‘Robyn is Here’. Turns out, it is. Thank you Wikipedia.

Here big hits were “Show me Love” and “Do you know what it takes” in the mid 90’s. They were really main stream and the “lite” and “at work” radio stations played them to death. I always loved her videos.

haha show me love… i think that was on one of the jock jams albums. played it in dance classes all the time. oh the 90s…

i LOVE robyn and i love that she’s evolved so much and completely in control of her own sound now. my fave song is “it hurts with every heartbeat” but also the acoustic of “be mine” is amazing. check it out on youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHevyZ48Wts

I agree with Ida: Sweden, yaaay! Also, if you like Robyn, you must check out this other Swedish artist called Lykke Li. She is simply awsome.
