Remember this chick?
On September 11, 2001, she spent the entire day reporting live from the streets of Manhattan, nearly suffocating in debris. She was immediately a household name, etched into the national consciousness. After that, she spent years reporting from Afghanistan and Pakistan, interviewing Taliban prisoners and refugees.

In fairness, she was fired from NBC shortly after she went on the record with her concerns about the unfair media portrayal of the war in Iraq, blasting the “cable news operators who wrap themselves in the American flag and go after a certain target demographic” (Fox News, this means you). And I love that she had the courage to do that, and I respect her tremendously for it. So I’m not going to give her too hard a time with this, but let’s just say I managed to figure out that celebrity gossip is the place to be without having to spend two fucking years in the Middle East.

I remember watching her coverage on 9/11 … She was interviewing a terrified pregnant woman when the second tower collapsed.. She shoved the woman out of the way and barked at her camera man
“ARE YOU GETTING THIS” .. I was irreversably turned off at the time.
When I saw her covering live trials on Court TV .. I was furious! She’s NOT a lawyer.. Who gives a shit what she thinks!
Rant over .. No wait not yet .. Why doesn’t she fucking get contact lenses or lasik? Her glasses make her look even more UGLY!

Ashley’s downward drop started not with her speaking out about the media (go girl!) but when she dyed her hair brown and (I believe) wore a headscarf to better “blend in” in Afghanistan. Lots of flak for that. Then, the media-blasting hara-kiri.

i went to school with A. and let me tell you- she won an award for being such a great debator! She was also a very mean racist bitch who I still have hateful feelings for- so! Shes still a nasty person most likely- she did a few interviews in the 90’s in the middle east….no wonder we’re at war now. whotta A-hole she was!

I met Ashleigh in Banff when she worked with Calgary 7 News. We kept in touch for a while after that. I was excited to see her career flourish, and I’m proud of her for standing up for what she believes in. I never wanted to think of her as a sheep, and I don’t. By the way… she’s still pretty HOT!!!
