While I personally don't understand why anyone would be spending their time writing or reading about celebrities, I can at least keep an open mind that there may be some merit, some practical purpose to doing such trivial things. I can, however, speak to the issue of Chinese writing in tattoos, as I myself have several characters. I'm not Chinese, but I've dedicated my life to the study and teaching of a Chinese martial art form, and have been a life long Buddhist. While I can't speak Chinese fluently, I admire the language, its culture, and its philosophy. I have several Chinese themed tattoos with simply Chinese characters build into them that have personal meaning to me. Characters that have no direct analog in English, at least nothing that can be translated without losing meaning. This is one very good reason, to answer your question. Is it so hard to imagine, that other cultures hold personal value, both practical and artistic, to an individual? At least at the same level (or possibly more) than one would find value in taking time away from improving themselves and decide to spend it talking about others? While I am sure there are those to whom such tattoos are a trend, or have no personal significance, please keep your mind open to the possibility that there are those who do have significance, even if you can't readily comprehend it. May I respectfully suggest less focus on others and more personal reflection as a remedy for such ignorance.
