Surprise, surprise.

It looks like Heath Ledger had secretly battled drug and alcohol abuse for quite some time.

In March 2006 – just weeks after the couple walked the Oscars red carpet and when daughter Matilda was only five months old – Williams drove Ledger to Promises Treatment Center in Malibu, California, the confidant tells Us Weekly.

Ledger refused to check in, instead swaying her with a pledge to clean up.

Even after the couple realized “they were in way over their heads,” according to a source, and split in September 2007, two sources tell Us that Williams demanded Ledger be drug-tested before his visitations with Matilda.

Oh, Heath. You’ll be missed.

Britney took her new black Mercedes out for a drive around the Hollywood Hills today.

After driving around for an hour, she asked the paps for help finding her way back home.

Actress Sean Young (yes, that’s apparently a girl’s name now) has checked into rehab for alcohol abuse after a little outburst at the DGA awards.

At the DGA awards, when Julian Schnabel was speaking, Sean screamed at him to “get on with it.” Julian suggested she “have another cocktail, sweetheart.”

Young was removed from the ballroom and the rest of the ceremony.

“Actress Sean Young voluntarily admitted herself yesterday to a rehabilitation center for treatment related to alcoholism,” a statement from Insignia PR said Tuesday. “It is understood that Young has struggled against the disease for many years.”
