Most of the fur in the West gets imported from China where labour is cheap. Now this is where the problem lies:
1.) China has no animal welfare laws whatsoever.
2.) Among animals such as foxes, raccoons and mink, they also skin dogs and cats alive. Yes, you heard me right. They skin them alive! You may think it’s an urban legend, but it is completely true. Just Google ‘chinese fur trade’ and you’ll see for yourself.
3.) The dog and cat fur is marketed to the West as faux fur/rabbit fur/fur with exotic sounding names. Dog/cat fur is easy to dye different colors to resemble other fur.
You might be wearing a coat that contains dog fur and not even be aware of it.
4.) The barbaric Chinese fur industry is going strong as we speak and it won’t stop until people STOP BUYING FUR.
6.) China skins up to 2 million dogs and cats every year.
7.)China is the biggest exporter of fur globally.

The reason why these animals don’t get killed humanely by shooting it in the head/slitting its throat is because it would ruin the fur and therefore the pelts would fetch a much lower price. The reason why they don’t humanely give them a lethal injection is because the costs of doing this to so many animals would be too expensive. Remember that it takes up to 65 minks to make one fur coat.
I used to Love Mary J.’s music but now that i’ve seen this picture and heard her comments, i’ve decided that her personal choices override alla that. It really shows what kind of person she truly is. Please leave race out of this. I am a black woman and I totally disagree with the use of fur for glamour. It’s wrong and we need to admit to it. Animals kill out of necessity. Humans kill out of convenience, vanity, greed, etc. It’s sad that people can defend these two women and their fur habits. The native people of America, Russia, wherever, they wore the fur of animals that they ate. Mary and Patti aren’t the only ones. add Keira Knightley, gwen Stefani, Busta, and countless others. So go pester 1 in 4 people walking around the streets of our cities in the winter. There is Millions of them. Secondly, 95% of all furs are made from animals raised in fur farms. They are PUT TO SLEEP, those old films of electrocution is old school. Thirldy, more dogs and cats are put to sleep each year in this country then do all the furs made into coats. So, go protest outside the animal shelters, they killing far more or your furry little friends then the fur industry. Find homes for all those pets and then get a life.

They are controlled by law, which does not approve of animals being skinned alive. And btw what would be the use of skinning animals alive, ti is much easyer to remove the fur from the animal when the animal is dead.

I still enjoy mary j’s music, but i believe she and patti have made the wrong choice about those furs. In a time when many people in america are out of work and struggling just to have heat and water for their families, these women have to flaunt their riches by buying coats that come from animals being tortured and hurt. I’m not a staunch supporter of peta or any other crazy shock organizations but I don’t believe that animals should be put through so much pain just for one article of clothing. I believe that real fur is warmer and softer than faux, and probably looks better, but someone can always put layers on to stay warm, and maybe saying it is warmer and softer makes the people wearing those furs sleep better at night.
