MJB is almost-legendary famous in Rap and R&B, but I don’t think fame justifies it. There are lots of rich people that aren’t celebrities wearing fur too… I just don’t see the point of fur, when there are so many other options… but then, who wears vegan shoes or has a vegan purse out there? (I have one purse and wallet, but admittedly most of my shoes are suede and leather.) Who has feather pillows or duvets? Do any women out there wear make-up, use hair products, wear perfume and/or bathe regularly? And then the obvious one, who eats meat or animal products? Most of us contribute to animal cruelty in one way or another. It takes a lot of effort and a lot of money to avoid it 100%.
The bigger issue is: What are these individuals (people who feel the need to cover their bodies in the decaying hides of many poor, dead, formerly vital and adorable little creatures) trying to prove or compensate for? There is no need to wear fur, it is a choice, so what would motivate them to do it? I’m not rich or famous, but if I won the lottery tomorrow, I would probably get a puppy, but I sure as hell wouldn’t go out and cover myself in dead chinchillas.

At some point, we wise up, become more educated. smoking was acceptable, then we all wised up. When I was growing up, my mother tore our asses up when me and my brother misbehaved, today if raising kids, she said she’d try talking first. Growing up, my family used hamhocks in everything, now for health reasons we use it for special occasions.
I put fur in that category - let’s move on. Do we really need to prove we’re glam by skinning an animal? GIVE ME DIAMONDS ANYDAY! plus, i never understood fur being luxury item…any poor ass can finance one or lay it away.

I think some people are taking this fur business a little too far. I don’t like fur cause that’s my personal preference not to wear it…But I’m not gonna sit here and spend my life scrutinizing someone who does….Unless you wear a veggie or whole grain coat and shoes….there’s an animal being killed for your purpose….Indians been started the fur tradition when they killed buffalo to keep themselves warm…I don’t agree that fur should be a fashion statement, but its not my job to stop them…there is more important things like people being killed and stuff. I think it’s extremely rude to throw that red paint on people’s belongings whether u like it or not and people should worry about themselves. People who cherish their animals and put them of more importance than a human life should remember…if this were the wild and these animals were not domesticated…9times out of 10 you (the human) would probably be their meal.

There are other major issues in the world. Do we really need to be worried if celebrities wear fur or not? It upsets many people and they call it animal cruelty. Do you know the The Native Americans wore fur, The Europeans wore fur, The Africans were fur and so on. I have the right to wear fur just like the next person though I choose not to. Those PETA videos that have been circulating about how furs are made are very questionable to me( sort of like propaganda that only shows you how one person or how one part of the world chooses to obtain fur.)People have been making fur for a long time and I find it hard to believe that thats how its made. There are others ways to obtain fur like shaving the animal or when an animal is being killed( for food that is) that fur that is left over is sold to make coats, etc. Now we have a problem with people who wear fur, as I stated before, they have a right to wear whatever they want. NOW, what about the Five year old children working slave hours in the factories around the world???

Wearing of fur was never an issue until people of color began wearing them. PETA people care more about an animal than a human being. I agree w/Lady Architect when she said if your “pet” was not domesticated you would be its next meal. As I stated before those PETA videos and the videos circulating around about how furs are made are a choice that those people make on how they obtain fur. Not all fur is obtained that way, just like how not all diamonds are blood diamonds. People have a right to wear fur, leather belts, shoes etc. And to DARIA, Please dont get it confused, Micheal Vick is not in jail because of his “iilegal” dog fighting he had going on at one of his homes. He is in jail because he was not paying the government part of his earnings. People ( rich and wealthy) have these sort of things going on at their home and secret locations all the time. The only difference is Vick wasn’t paying off the right people. They made an example out of him, thats all that was. Dont be so native and think that this sort of thing doesnt go on in wealthy households and that the authories don’t know about. It has always been and will always be all about paying off the right people.

The majority of fur and fur trim comes from China where there are not any regulations. In China, sometimes they bash the animal’s head against something hard, and yes, sometimes they are skinned alive.
But, here in the U.S., do you really think things are so much better? Remember, you cannot damage their fur coat when you kill them, so that means, leg traps in the wild and electrocution if the animal is farm raised.
The animal still spends time in tiny cages, month after month. The cages are stacked one on top of another, so the animals are mostly covered by feces of the animal above them. Then in the end, they are picked up by their tail, taken out of the cage and either gassed or electrocuted by a prod up their butt. How is this any better than the videos that are circulating?
And yes, paying off the right people sure does help. But, sorry.. rich white people do things like ‘canned hunts’ where they get to shoot a tame bear in a fenced in pen. Vick was killing dogs, which hits closer to home for most people.

Helping animals and helping people are not mutually exclusive. What I find is that the same people who speak out about animals are also often the same people who speak out for children and homeless etc. In fact I know that there are two leading animal rights leaders who volunteered in soup kitchens for years and still do.
I also find that the people who complain that people should help humans and not animals, are also the people who are not doing a thing about either.

For those who rant on about poor people starving and dying because they dont have enough medical attention etc to survive-these two are the pure example of not caring. Do you realise how much their fur coats cost? And think how many people you can feed in countries that need our help, just for that price.
