The country stand-out was one of the presenters for the Grammy noms this morning when she heard her own name announced and promptly started hugging everyone on stage.
“I’ve always been a hugger,” she says. “I honestly did not think I was going to get nominated, so when they said my name I just felt like hugging somebody. I’m glad that everyone started hugging. If we all hugged more, the world would be a better place.”
Ah, the key to world peace, thanks to Taylor Swift. Someone get the President on the phone. You hear me, Jenna Bush??

I can’t stand Taylor! She’s a really bad singer when she is singing live. I really don’t understand how she got a record deal with that flat voice. What I hate the most about her is how she never gives creidt to the people who helped her write her songs. She’s always bragging about how she wrote everything and how she’s a prodigy kid. She’s totally lame and thats why she belongs in country music.

well damn, Jessica, I’d like to see you get a record deal and be better than her! And I, as a teenage country fan, am so DAMN sick and TIRED of people saying “country music sucks. only old crust people listen to it.” well it’s a way of life!!!!!!!!! and writing/co-writing all the songs on her debut album is an AMAZING accomplishment, she’s the first female country singer to do so. Jessica, if you’d look at the booklet in her CD, there’s a whole back page dedicated to her fans, inspirations, and record label people. I’ve heard her singing live and she sounds good, not flat at all. Maybe it’s because you’re used to electronically mixed and digitally mastered music that you don’t appreciate it. And whoever wrote this article needs to check her age. She’s 18, and most country people don’t go on “drinking sprees”, whatever the hell that is. We drink beers, what NASCAR, and listen to country music. No martinis or margaritas. It’s boring to you because rap & pop people get high and wasted when they get a nomination for something, then can’t be there! I’m not dropping any names, but Amy Winhouse wasn’t even at the Grammys and she was nominated for 6 or 7 of them! So I’d appreciate it if you wouldn’t talk about things like country music that you know nothing about. Thank you very much!

Taylor Swift is about the worst singer I have ever heard. She is just not technically talented. I would rather be stung on the eardrum by a wasp than listen to her live album.
I felt really bad for the people on “Nashville Star” who didn’t make the cut, who were clearly better than Taylor. It was pretty unfair to have her perform at a competition which is based on talent.
I think her CD’s are great, but live singing needs work.

Though Dierks and Rodney make good music…..If you lived in Nashville … like I do…. and saw the insane talent here…. You would be angry in a way. Hey, I would have to say that Taylor Swift is a very talented song writer. I do have to agree though that she doesn’t always sing “live” very well. I think after a while it may get better though.
If you are going to publish your thoughts online, don’t you think it would be a good idea to spell correctly and use correct grammar? If you actually think someone is awesome and every word you write in a blog is misspelled, it really makes your praise seem as if it comes from an illiterate buffoon. As a result your thoughts are discounted and the nice things you have said about the person are lost. Your writing represents you. Impress people with your ability to express your thoughts on paper. When in doubt, run the spell checker in MS WORD and cut and paste.
As far as Taylor is concerned, I have seen her on awards shows and her pitch is really off when she is belting out the notes. Pretty? Oh yea, she is gorgeous, I just would not buy her music.

Hugging is great! It’s great that Taylor likes to give hugs. She’s pretty attractive, seems like a nice girl, & from what I’ve seen, she’s fairly talented. Okay, Swift is obviously not a terrible singer, since so many people obviously love her music and she’s topped the charts more than once. I don’t think it’s achieving anything to bash her for your own amusement, since all it does is get people riled up about something which really doesn’t matter.
As for the drinking sprees thing – well how many 18 yr olds do YOU know that regularly go on drinking sprees? Some do, yeah, but personally I fail to see how Swift could be a decent singer if she was drunk all the time.
I also don’t see why any of you even care. Do you know Swift personally? No? Then why are you getting so mad on her behalf, whether you dislike her or not?
