Fortunately, Cyndi Lauper’s found a cure for the last item.
Pop survivor Cyndi Lauper has one of the most unusual pre-performance warmups.
An amused source backstage at last week’s benefit for the Hetrick-Martin Institute said she sucked the gas out of two helium balloons, to create her trademark squeaky voice, before belting out hits like “Time After Time.”
Something tells me it’s not just before shows that this woman’s sucking on helium …

Seriously, even if this is true, you don’t need to be talking shit about people living the life you wish you had. And aging is a part of life, one day the same thing will happen to you, other than the fame, fortune, and amazing talent! But seriously, cool your jets and take some time to think about what others might think about you for a change! She’s really an amazing singer, and you need to think about that for a while. Ha ha! Squeaky voice! She has a 4 Octave range. She can sing where she wants. Blowing up balloons is a great exercise to build diaphragm strength, and she has never tried to conceal the fact that she uses singing exercises to maintain her voice. Aside from the fact that she isn’t as young as she was, she damaged her vocal chords years ago and had to completely retrain her voice again. I would imagine that takes work.
Sad that this is what ‘reporting’ has become. As was mentioned, sucking helium from a balloon (Aside from being dangerous) would only last a few seconds anyway. Even a moron should have been able to poke holes in this bit of ‘fact finding’ in a few seconds. Good luck reaching the level of moron.
