I am wondering where everyone has been for the past 8 years??? There is now a chicken pox vaccine. Some kids get it and some don’t, but it is only 70-90% effective against mild cases anyhow. So, my vaccinated child still got chicken pox. And with good at-home care, he has barely had an itching problem. A little calamine and an oatmeal bath have made for one comfortable little patient!

no, you cannot be vaccinated for chicken pox… the only way to immunise against chicken pox is to get it… you can only get it once and then your body is immune…. trust me, i have studied it.

that’s why it shits me when parents say “keep them away from my kids, i don’t want them to get chicken pox”

but they NEED to get chicken pox, because if they don’t get it as a child they are extremely likely to get it as an adult and it affects you a lot worse as an adult… you get really really ill.
Caz is right, you can only be vaccinated for mumps and measels.
but the poor little man. chicken pox suck! just a part of life i guess.

Cruz is old enough to be vacinated. Kind of shitty little ones pick the pox and get permanent scars – you can’t explain it to them. Honestly – get your friggin kids shots. Poor baby, I’d be pissed.
