Mary-Kate Olsen was rushed to the ER with a kidney infection on Monday.
She’s recovering well and should be released in the next couple of days.
Don’t you get a kidney infection when you let a UTI go untreated? And don’t you usually get a UTI from too much unprotected sex? Or am I making this up? Commenters, weigh in!

All I know is I had one and went to the ER too – they are nothing to toy with. That is some major freaking pain!
I think you can get a kidney infection from drug usage, also. There are too may toxins for the kidney to clean up. Damn.
She may be on heroin. This happens alot with that shit.
You can get a kidney infection from a UTI, but you can get a UTI from more places then sex – and it doesn’t matter if it’s protected or not. It’s just bacteria that gets up in the wrong place, and can spread to the kidney if untreated.
She sure didn’t get it from food. Or food related products.
It’s anorexia, methinks.

I’ve had UTI’s from passing kidney stones….and there is always the thought of getting a kidney infection as a result from that…could be anything, really.

KIs happen when you hold in your pee for too long or when you have a Bladder infection that spreads to your kidneys. Basically it’s when any kind of bacteria gets to your kidney and spreads.
UTI is a Urinary tract infection. Kidney infections and bladder infections are grouped into this catagory.
Almost every woman over the age of 20 will have at least one kidney infection in their lives.
Kidney infection symptoms:
Lower back pain
Mild to severe pain during urination
Fever and chills
Nausea
Death (if not treated)
KI treatment:
Antibiotics
Pain medication
I lost 5 pounds when I had a KI. I was so nauseas that I couldn’t eat until after two days of treatment. It took about four days to recover. So don’t be surprised when MK comes back into public looking emaciated, she’s already skinny and this isn’t going to help. But it’s not because she’s anorexic again, it’s because she just had a serious life threatening infection.

you can also get a UTI from just holding in your urine for too long and too many time. its alomst like a yeast infection. so MANY things can cause it.
I have a kidney infection at the moment! Its horrible.. and it’s the second one in 6months! It’s easily treated though with antibiotics. I don’t see why anyone would need to be taken into hospital with one. Wimps!
