We are all attacking each other. My question is: for what? This is the INTERNET. Everyone has access. We should all have better things to do with our time/talents than to bash someone for something they have absolutely no control over---their race. I'm proud to be an African American female. At the same time, I feel the hurt that comes along with it. Being shunned, persecuted or killed because of skin color, looked upon as being ignorant, outright stupid or lazy, or just the fact that in the eyes of most mainstream people, if we're dressed nicely or what-have-you, we must be doing something illegal. I have to teach my children that despite what anyone says, Black or White, they are just as intelligent, and capable of greatness as anyone else. I don't know if some White people understand what it's like to have shame as an inbred trait, or that we should look away when White people are present. One would think that with time, it would diminish. Unfortunately, I'm here to tell you; it doesn't. Sure, slavery ended a long time ago, but it's residual effects are still felt. I'm not an advocate of reparations, because that will not take away history, or what was done to my people. In addition, I don't hold every White person accountable for what one does, and I feel that it is grossly unfair for any person to generalize races the way it's being done here. That said, unfortunately, I know that the lighbulbs will not turn on for lots of racists on either side any time soon. Until then, we will continue to live in two seperate "worlds".
