It’s worth nothing that the passenger was drag racing also. He just wasn’t the one driving. He also wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, which is why he was so badly injured compared to Nick. So basically, he’s more than half to blame for his own condition. It’s not like he was kidnapped and dragged into the car.
