In fact, research has shown that it’s actually better for you to be slightly overweight (with a BMI ranging from 25-30) — you should read the paper more often.

She is neither. Yeah, she would probably look even better if she lost a few pounds, but any NORMAL woman would. Just because she’s not super-skinny doesn’t mean she’s fat. It means she’s NORMAL. Jesus christ, go and look at a real woman every once in a while.

I’ve seen a number of different pictures of Jennifer in which she looks heavy. And I agree she looks overweight here. It’s hard not to be affected by the Hollywood/fashion dictates of what we’re supposed to look like, but you can get there through very strict diet and exercise. It’s not right to accuse everyone who achieves the ultra slim/fit body of having an eating disorder. And it shouldn’t mean everyone has to do it to be attractive. But my main objection is how I’ve seen the slim Jennifer on TV giggling and claiming that she never has to exercise or diet … that this is all without effort, eats burgers and fries all the time, doesn’t exercise etc. It’s simply not true … you don’t have a washboard stomach and such low body fat that way. And if it were true, why does her body weight fluctuate so much? I think this is a very self-serving and a misleading message. I hate to think of young girls wondering what’s wrong with them that they don’t look that way.

Rachael – I hope you’re not calling me an idiot … I certainly wouldn’t pass such judgment on you. We’re allowed to have different opinions and still show respect for one another, both about weight and intellect. Yes, I know about the theory of 3 women’s body types, and yes, JLF is most likely a pear shape. But sometimes she is a much larger pear than others. As I said before, what bothers me is JLF’s claims (when slim) that she eats unhealthy food and does no exercise and just has a super low-fat, buff body. It’s obviously not true and it’s not a healthy message to others. That “oh gee whiz, I’m just so beautiful without even trying”. is juvenile, misleading, and deflating to her young female fans. Also, if she makes such statements, she should certainly be prepared to take criticism when she gains weight A lack of humility almost always comes back at you hard. I noticed how so many have stated that her weight is “normal”. The US has an obesity crisis … it has now moved (over tobacco-use) to #1 on the list for life-threatening conditions in the US. What may be average in the US does not necessarily mean healthy.
