BTW, Working in Hollywood is NOT like the corporate mindfield of backstabbings you folks navigate every day–that’s childs play compared to a “hostile work environment” REALLY creative people can come up with.

By way of example, imagine trying to protect your employee rights working in the porn industry–where folks are taking off their clothes and doing God knows what as part of their job description. An oxymoron? Perhaps.

There are executives and stars in Hollywood that are notorious asses. Everyone knows this. They are often celebrated for this. They say and do whatever they want without consequence. These people are often so powerful (ie making somebody so much money) that they become untouchable.

The favored way to rid yourself of a Black person (or anyone in this industry) is to deem them threatening. A common occurance is the executive on a screaming tirade publically berating his assistant. This person, as a matter of course, uses language that is totally unacceptable in your world but is SOP in theirs. It’s sometimes the only way that women executives are seen as on par with their male counterpart. This is often called “paying your dues”

A person of color in this industry can quickly find out how much power they wield by actually having an opinion; making an unpopular declarative statement or behaving contrary to the (often unspoken) codes of conduct. They can quickly become persona non grata if there’s no rabbi with a net to shield you from your bad self.

As in Mr. Washington’s case, you wouldn’t believe how PC people become when it serves their purpose. Just ask Mr. Gibson what it feels like to fall through the “net.”

I’m not that surprised with Isaiah’s statements. He craves attention. Ya gotta make noise by playing the race card, then you branch out into revealing your mental instability until you finally come out and call everything a mistake.

Isaiah has yet to apologize for speaking to the press at all. He owes us all an apology for his ignorance but we have a long way to go. Expect to hear more from this head case.

I can’t remember when anyone (famous or not) organized such a successful future unemployment campaign.
