Britney Spears Still Doesn’t Think She Has a Problem with Alcohol or Depression
Tuesday, May 29th, 2007Britney Spears recently saw fit to author yet another fan-directed epistle for her website. The full letter is after the jump, but I’ve selected my favorite paragraph to discuss here.
Recently, I was sent to a very humbling place called rehab. I truly hit rock bottom. Till this day I don’t think that it was alcohol or depression. I was like a bad kid running around with ADD. I had a manager from a long time ago come in and try to direct me and my life after I got my divorce. I was so overwhelmed I think that I was in a little shock too. I didn’t know who to go to. I realized how much energy and love I had put into my past relationship when it was gone because I genuinely did not know what to do with myself, and it made me so sad. I confess, I was so lost.
Now, because the bolded sentence doesn’t make any sense with the word “till,” I’m going assume she meant “to.” I think a lot of people have read this to mean: “Until this day, I didn’t think that is was alcohol or depression,” implying that she now realizes it was the alcohol and/or depression. But I think it’s more likely that Brit confused “Till” with “To” than it is that she got her tenses wrong.
So: “To this day, I don’t think that it was alcohol or depression.”
So girlie still doesn’t think she has a problem.
I’m not judging, I’m just saying.
