There is some strange smell in Manhattan today. My roommate just called me and said “We aren’t supposed to go to work if our offices are in the West 40s.” I write this to you ladies and gentlemen from West 49th St. where I’m now not allowed to go outside. This is what happens when you wake up and read blogs…not the news. I need a pick me up and I think you all do to so here is a favorite random song of mine that gets me going when I’ve got a case of the Mondays…or when Manhattan is filled with a strange smell of gas and they are evacuating our train and subway stations.

I watched Kinky Boots over the weekend and EvilT was spot on. It’s a fun movie, with occasional strands of “feel good” and I now fully support Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Golden Globe Nomination. It’s along the same lines as Billy Elliot or Full Monty, the Brits seem to have the market cornered on somewhat realistic comedies.

So, anyhow, I’m man enough to admit when my Spirit cup hath runeth over and I humbly submit a “mea culpa” (Latin for “Mea es muy culpable”).

Yes. It’s true. Drunkie Paula gave the following quote to Entertainment Weekly:

“Last year, when no one understood what I was saying, and even though I’ve never been drunk in my life, I’m accused of filling my Coca-Cola cup with alcohol. Yeah, that was really fun for me.”

First off, Paula, way to remember to plug Coca-Cola even in the midst of a conversation about your alcoholism. You’re a real pro.

Also, dear, if I were you, I’d cop to the drinking. Because if you’re claiming you gave an interview like this sober, well, you leave the rest of us no choice but to assume you are functionally retarded. Come on, Paula? How about some information, please?

X17 caught some video of Britney Spears in Miami (well, I figure it has to be in Miami, because lord knows no one’s dressing like that around L.A. these days…), jamming out to her demo tape in her car. You can catch a little portion of two different songs. Honestly, they don’t sound as awful as they’d been rumored to be, but, like I said, it’s just a short sample.

Update: Well, everyone else is saying these pics are from Santa Monica. I thought Brit was in Miami this week, and, seriously, it is SO COLD in L.A. lately, I cannot believe she is wearing this outfit, but whatever.

This looks like it was taped on the d-l by someone with a small digital camera or a kick-ass cell phone. There are some pretty funny parts, though. It’s hard to really make out Mariah’s face, but her voice is unmistakable.
